Who is involved in the Junior League of North Harris and South Montgomery Counties, Inc.?

The members of the JLNHSMC are women dedicated to making a difference in the suburban north Houston communities in which they live. The League attracts women with a variety of skills, backgrounds, and interests. The JLNHSMC reaches out regardless of race, religion, or national origin, to anyone who demonstrates an interest and commitment to voluntarism.

What area does the Junior League of North Harris and South Montgomery Counties service?

The Junior League is a unique league that has the opportunity to stretch over a large area to help others. We service the Champions, Spring, Cypress, Klein, Tomball, Jersey Village, the FM1960 area as well as The Woodlands. We have members who live in those areas plus Kingwood, Conroe, Willis and Houston. Our League serves suburban north Houston.

Who can join the Junior League of North Harris and South Montgomery Counties?

To be eligible to join the Junior League as a New Member, a woman must be 22 years old by May 31 of the year proposed, a legal resident of the Greater Houston Metropolitan area, and be sponsored by two members.

How do I get a sponsor?

Ask any member of the Junior League of North Harris and South Montgomery Counties to sponsor you. When is the Best Time to Join?

New members are welcome to join one time per year during enrollment, from January to May. The deadline for receipt of new member enrollment forms is July 1st. Prospective members who miss the deadline must wait until the following year.

Enrollment Process

All women interested in learning more about becoming a member of the Junior League should plan to attend one of the New Member Information Nights in January or April, and the Provisional Tea in June. What are the Membership Rewards?

As a member of the Junior League you make a difference in your community. For 2009-2010, our organization contributed to our community programs financial support of nearly $90,000 with thousands of volunteer hours well exceeding a $500,000 value. As a Junior League member, you are a part of the Association of Junior Leagues International, which includes over 292 Leagues throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Great Britain. Members of the Junior League of North Harris and South Montgomery Counties are trained volunteers for effective action and leadership. The knowledge you gain can be used in the League, your profession, and your daily life.

What are the Membership Commitments?

New members engage in an intensive one-year training program. All members are committed to attend General Meetings, be a member of a committee, and help with the Holiday Market, our major fundraiser for our community programs. The financial commitments of members include dues, purchasing/selling of Holiday Market tickets, purchasing/selling of our cookbooks, Texas Ties and Texas Tables, and obtaining two other fundraising credits by selling, obtaining donations, or working various events.
